Welcome!

Welcome to the the website of Mu Beta Psi, National Honorary (Co-ed) Musical Fraternity - Rho Chapter at NMU.

Mu Beta Psi was founded at North Carolina State University on November 5, 1925 by Major Percy W. Price. Percy "Daddy" Price was in charge of the military band at first, and became the founder and director of the Music Program at the University. He founded Mu Beta Psi with the goal of bringing together the musicians in different ensembles and creating a family within the Music Department.

Until his death in the 1930s, Price was a leader of Mu Beta Psi, working on expanding the Fraternity into nearby colleges. He succeeded in colonizing at Davidson College and the College of William and Mary.

Over the years, the focus of the Fraternity shifted from mostly honorary to social, taking on duties of service to music and to the North Carolina State Music Department. Today the Fraternity has active Chapters in North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, New York, and New Jersey.
